Recent encfs problems caused by upgrades

Has anyone else in the UK been stung by the problems to encfs caused by the latest upgrades of boost and openssl? Here are the main threads reporting the problems:

I love to use encfs on my laptops for encrypting data directories on the fly but have had to downgrade the above packages to preserve sanity.

Re: Recent encfs problems caused by upgrades

Hmm... will check this later, not run an update on my laptop for a while (ATI Gfx, so something usually breaks :S) but if it is broken, then that could be a problem, seeing as all my work stuff is stored using it hmm

might I suggest taking a back up before upgrading! I hate promoting propietary software but Truecrypt is a suitable encryption suite that could be used as an alternative till encfs is working as intended again.

Re: Recent encfs problems caused by upgrades

The patched encFS posted in the first thread works fine for me (as I mentioned there) but doesn't seem to for everyone. And there's been another boost update since then, which I'm scared to apply, just in case...

It's a pity, because nothing else is quite as convenient. Except, I'd guess, Truecrypt, but as phar says, it's proprietary.
